Scaredy Cats

You have heard the phrase scaredy catPhoto of the end of a cat’s tail under the bed Well, I know two that are just that – You don’t even have to say boo As they will cower whate’er you do

When you go into the same roomPhoto of Milo hiding behind the sofa They act as if they’ve met their doom Rushing to hide under a seat So that they don’t have you to meet

For they so easily will jumpPhoto of Pixie seeking refuge on top of the curtain rail And then into umpteen things bump In their rush to get safe away Whatever soothing words you say

If you should crouch on bended knee Gently beck’ning these cats to thee It’s likely they will stop and stare But to approach you they won’t dare

And when, somehow, a gentle hand Does softly upon their back land Then they will dash across the floor To escape through the nearest door

Seeking a little hide-y hole Avoiding you is their one goal Scaling the curtain to the rail But how to get down – maybe abseil?

They won’t come when their name you call Nor when you throw a paper ball But if their biscuit box is shook They might possibly come and look
