H O T

H O T spells out hot And that’s what the weather got We have all had to brave An English summer heatwave

Temperatures soared so high Countryside barren and dry In the high 30s Often without any breeze Still 20 plus at night Even though it wasn’t light

It was record breaking But also nauseating We struggled to stay cool Some luckily had a pool! Or air conditioning Became an essential thing

It became hard to think And we needed lots to drink Was hard getting to sleep And also that way to keep

Some rushed off to the coast In an attempt not to roast There were many schools shut And some services were cut

This summer, 26 Now outbeats 76 That year was a legend Now its reign’s come to an end

This heat went on and on But we’ll miss it when it’s gone We really have to hope We find better ways to cope
