Memories

Do you recall a mem’ry game? Matching the cards that were the same Or naming items on a tray After they’re all hidden away

With age you’ll find that it is wise To give your mem’ry exercise So that it might not see decay Or, without use, just waste away

It can be good, mem’ries to share With those people for whom you care And sometimes as you do recap Theirs, with yours, may well overlap

But mem’ries to you are unique And for nothing else should you seek We each remember diff’rent things From each one, to us, some thought springs

You may recall where you have been Or it could evoke what you’ve seen Maybe it’s a partic’lar smell Or something else that you won’t tell!

It can be surprising to find What brings something back to your mind So, what brings back mem’ries for you? Or is it that I should ask who?
