A Cycle Ride

So how does one define a cycle ride? I would like to humbly suggest It’s more than taking a cycle for a ride But maybe you’ll want this to contest

Recently, for my sanity’s sake I invested in an exercise bike But I’ve found it’s rather fake Even though I am still riding a bike

It was more than just a whim Whilst I can’t go out I can simulate It may help to keep me in trim But unlike the real thing it doesn’t stimulate

I would say that there is more To a cycle ride than one Where you’re fixed onto the floor And nowhere at all have gone

Bluntly it is quite boring I’m just getting nowhere fast I almost end up snoring I’ll rejoice when this phase is passed

So to return to my question What is a cycle ride? Below I’ll give a suggestion Don’t deny until you’ve tried

There is a joy in being outside And where you go makes an impact Who is with you, by your side And the weather’s an important fact

Where you go may not matter The journey is the main thing Having someone with whom to natter That can definitely great joy bring

Noticing what you see Listening for what you hear A bird, a fox, a massive tree Nature feels so very near

A cycle ride aids mental health Can bring joy and fun and laughter You don’t need to have great wealth It makes memories to share forever after
