Seasons in 2020

This year has been very odd Brought some people nearer God But I would like to claim The seasons passed by the same

When this year, 2020, began Although there was no snowman It was still pretty cold As winter had taken hold

Mornings could be frosty or icy Making travel rather dicey And if you got up with the lark It was still very dark

Then came the nasty storms Causing damage in many forms Blowing people’s property around And severely flooding much ground

Then this Covid season began And many things incurred a ban But time continued to move on Before long winter was gone

As people were stopped from going out They could watch their gardens sprout And enjoy listening to the bird song Or watching other things in nature throng

Spring had definitely sprung Fresh air could fill your lung(s) There was more time to see And more time to simply be

As such life stayed for a while It was good not to defile To practise wisdom in our use Of resources, rather than abuse

Easter Sunday came and went For some this caused a lament Whilst others seized the day To share Jesus who’s the way!

Some schools were still off For fear that someone might cough Pupils couldn’t their exams take Teachers had their grades to make

Then almost before we knew it Or finally got around to it! We reached the longest day Summer was on its way

The blue sky was so bright And the days were filled with light It started to get really hot Should we go out, maybe not!

Fruits ripened in the garden The ground began to dry and harden Then came the summer rain Everything was drenched again

Wind, rain, sun, came and went No significant weather event A pretty typical British season Everything was within reason

It’s not long now until the fall Well, it’s nearly autumn, we recall When the leaves will start to drop And the farmers harvest their crop

Time surely has flown by We cannot slow it if we try The changing seasons are still sure As long as our God does endure!
