The Red Kite
There’s something special about the red kite
For I think it’s an amazing sight
When I look up into the blue skies
It’s wonderful seeing how it flies
To pick it out from the crowd I can’t fail With such a distinctive shape for its tail And I have come over time to learn It helps this bird to soar, twist and turn
In the Chiltern Hills this great creature Has now become a common feature For though they introduced just a few The population then grew and grew
I can hardly even turn around Without one in my sight being found I’m so surprised at where they do go As they fly so very close and low
Yet despite their massive size and weight That seems to indicate they are great If I listen when one I espy I am amused by their feeble cry
