What did we see?

As we cycled, what did we see? A buzzard perched upon a tree And one on a telegraph pole Were they watching out for a vole?

As we cycled, what did we see? Amongst the cows there seemed to be One that was smaller, maybe half I guess that’s ‘cos it was a calf

As we cycled, what did we see? Roaming across the field so free A lovely pair of wild deer I hope that they’ve nothing to fear

As we cycled, what did we see? Maybe searching for food for tea A quite large flock of grey lag geese Quiet – not disturbing the peace

As we cycled, what did we see? Upon a stalk, all yellowy Way before the month of April Surely it was a daffodil

As we cycled, what did we see? Not just one, at least two or three Flitting about, sometimes hoppin’ From branch to branch, little robin

As we cycled, what did we see? Two cats seeming to disagree Stood in the road, amidst their fight I wonder which was in the right

As we cycled, what did we see? Well, strictly speaking, Phil not me The tiny flower of a snowdrop But we just went past, didn’t stop!
