A trip to Cardiff?

We were going to Cardiff for the day But when our train got to Bristol Parkway The announcement said we would be delayed Because some wally a bridge strike had made

It soon became plain we would arrive late And I really hate for my lunch to wait So we crossed the station to t’other side Where there came a moving train we could ride

It took us to the city of Gloucester Where we found a café beyond Costa Ordered some lunch and took ourselves a seat Continuing to talk as we did eat

We both mulled over our next travel plan Maybe to Worcester, just because we can It was many years since I had last been And ne’er before the cathedral I’d seen

And there were plenty of places to shop At sev’ral of them we did choose to stop In Mr Simms behind counter and till There was the proprietor stood stock still

But just as we did a step forward take He then began quickly to animate Seemed that he wanted to have a chat ‘bout putting sweets on cakes, and this and that

Soon hours hurtled towards our dinnertime We traversed the beautiful Cotswold line Though sadly the journey was not that swift As an issue had made times go adrift

So where next do you think we were heading? The Riverside, to eat out in Reading And thus it was our day drew to an end Though we ne’er got to where we did intend!
