Yorkshire – May 2023
Most days were dry
I don’t decry
Very grateful…
But hills were steep
I couldn’t keep
Cycling up them
On the cobble
I did wobble
By the canal
Friendly robin
He came hopping
Perched on my bike
A peatland moor
We did explore
To north of Crowle
Plenty of time
To make the climb
To Ravensprings
Straight through the ford
Headed abroad
Bike with trailer
Then onward went
More ride time spent
Blackgates, Royds Park
Did disembark For wildlife park At Doncaster
T’were hard to find The lemurs behind Their shed, piled up!
Central Tramway O’er sandy bay At Scarborough
And for our snack Tried Yorkshire Brack A nice tea bread
We took a walk Round city of York Upon their wall
In Wensleydale We took the rail- way to Leyburn
In Armley Mill You can see still How things once worked
At Huddersfield Despite eyes peeled No cats were spied
From Hull did ride To the seaside Where road’s no more
To Liverpool late Straight through the gate To other train
Yellow minion Has dominion At Shibden Park
Thornes Park, Wakefield Never concealed Mini railway
Lots of delay On the last day Of our holiday!
