Llandanwg - we know it well!

I’ve got another story to tell About a trip that didn’t go well. We got to Machynlleth in good time, Booked into our hotel, that was fine. But because it wasn’t really night We decided we’d have a quick ‘flight’…

Yes, we thought that we’d go out again For another ride upon a train. We’d simply go ’there’ and then come back, Which is often our plan of attack. We’d just pop out for a short-ish hop And then return, from a request stop.

We alighted train A at Llandanwg For a short wait, before returning, But soon train B became overdue. Oh where was it! we’d not got a clue, And more and more time was passing by, At least we’d shelter to keep us dry.

Luke kindly called up Transport for Wales, And filled the man in with all our tales. The man said train B had left Harlech, But had then stopped because it was sick. He said it may to Harlech return, But he could not currently confirm.

They’d try, on train B, a full reboot, But that mightn’t be the problem’s root. Thus, later, road transport had been called, Which left us feeling slightly appalled. We’d have to walk up hill for the bus, And hope it would see and stop for us.

In nasty weather, windy and wet, We decided that we’d rather get Train C, that’d go the other way, Than on the bleak roadside have to stay. For we really didn’t know how long Before that bus might trundle along.

Because train B had some sort of fault, We’d had to wait two hours at the halt Before train C did then come along, And take us to where train B had gone. There, at the platform, train B was sat, And so it seemed as if that was that.

We spoke to the staff, yes asked the man, What was going to be the onward plan? Train A to Machynlleth soon was due, And train A was to make a rescue. It would couple up, and then haul back, Train B, which faculties now did lack.

And so, ’twas after wait upon wait, We got to our hotel very late! I think that, probably, the worst part Was, that day, we’d had an early start. Plus, if we had chosen to remain On board, we’d have still got back on A train.
