Out of the Ordinary

You may know we went awayPhoto of cat upon barge So I pondered what to say Maybe this time, for a change I’ll just note things that were strangePhoto of Fred Flintstone car

Like the cat upon the bargePhoto of North Sea He was certainly in charge Then before we’d travelled far A Fred Flintstone static carPhoto of oil rig model in Maritime Museum

One evening we stayed out latePhoto of catering vans by Aberdeen seafront Next day, did I look a state? For the first time I was askedPhoto of Edinburgh If my sixtieth I’d passed!

On arrival at our flatPhoto of temporary miniature railway at Hopetown The host lady told us that In the cupboards we’d find there Food odds and ends going spare

Found most of a loaf of bread Though sadly there was no spread But there was some ketchup sauce I made sandwiches, of course!

I had a further forage And found oats to make porridge We had an egg each to fry Plus other things we did try

Yes, talking of things to try I love macaroni pie But lasagne pie was new It’s not as good, in my view

Up north I saw that they make Savoury potato cake Pineapple cake, more a tart And their Bridies are an art

After this summer of sun Rain on the roof did drum And strolling by the North Sea I had to wear my cardi

The night club’s noise was far more Each time they opened their door Maritime Museum’s big Theme’s all about the oil rig

On the seafront we then found Catering trailers did abound And parked up there alongside Old vans with saunas inside

In Edinburgh oft’ go west On the tram. Phil did suggest That we go the other way But ‘twasn’t working that day

Phil thought he’d lost his bank card He looked everywhere so hard Seems he doesn’t pay enough I’d filed his card in my stuff!

In Swindon the cinema Is a little bit too far But whilst on our holiday Saw a film on opening day

At the museum arrived What was it you think we spied? A miniature railway track On the grass, just out and back

On Hull Trains we seldom go But ‘twas same train to and fro In the flat’s foyer we heard An alarm’s blip, not a bird

At Reading all trains were late We’d no idea of the wait! So should we hang around there, or Have a ride up the M4?
