Jesus' Friend

Word came to Jesus to Him tell That His friend Laz’rus was unwell But tho’ He was not far away He chose that where he was he’d stay

Why? we ask, it is hard to know As some days later He did go Despite the fact when last He went To kill Him people were intent

Mary and Martha were upset They didn’t understand or get Why it had taken Him so long That everything had now gone wrong

Their brother Lazarus had died And because of this Jesus cried But that’s not the end of the story For God used this to His glory

To His disciples He had said Laz’rus is sleeping He’s not dead So on arrival at the cave To Laz’rus an instruction gave

Jesus made a very loud shout Telling the dead man to come out And sure enough He did appear As God’s power had come so near
