Old and Grey
Inspired by [Ecclesiastes 12](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ecclesiastes+12&version=NIV)
What does the Bible have to say About when we grow old and grey? What wisdom is to us revealed What knowledge is there in it sealed?
The passage into which I’ll delve Ecclesiastes chapter twelve The words of Solomon the king So clearly in my ears ring
Remember God when you are young Before troubles on you are sprung For then you’ll find you start to say You find no pleasure in each day
It seems your life turns into night As nothing remains to give light The clouds return after the rain As all your strength begins to wane
You live your life in so much fear Greater with each advancing year Where once you were so strong and tall You now are stooped, becoming small
Your vision too has become blurred And it sounds like your speaking‘s slurred You find that noises grow so faint Upon your life there is a taint
Each day you wake up before dawn But what you were you can but mourn You find that you are scared of life Everything seems to bring strife
All your desires faded away They could no longer with you stay It is as if you’ve lost your will And so often now you get ill
Your life is drawing to a close But, oh, that you could find repose Before the silver cord is ripped And you reach the end of this script!
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust Now is the time in God to trust Before your life comes to an end Remember on him to depend
