The armour of God

It helps, in the Lord, to be strong Especially when things go wrong And in his mighty power rest So you can endure every test

Before each day starts to progress Be sure to don your battle dress It helps make you ready and fit When you put on all of the kit

If in this armour you are found It will aid you to stand your ground To fight the fight against the foe As through this life you onward go

Be sure the belt of truth is tight Around your waist so you do right The righteous breastplate on your chest To protect you in each contest

And prepare shoes upon your feet That share God’s peace with those you meet Take up faith, your protective shield ‘gainst the arrows Satan will wield

Salvation’s helmet on your head Reassurance where’er you’re led Fin’lly brandish the Spirit’s sword Taking God’s Holy word on board

Now you are ready for the day Just don’t forget that you can pray In the Spirit in many ways Standing firm and giving God praise
