Christmas Expectations
What are you doing for Christmas? That’s all we seem to hear There’re so many expectations Around this time of year
What are you having for dinner? People will often say You know they’re expecting turkey And cooked just the right way
Where are your expensive presents? The ones you’re bound to buy Under the dropping Christmas tree ‘Put there by the fat guy’!?
And what about a white Christmas? It’s so traditional But actually the wind and rain Are far more seasonal
Pray where was the little donkey In lowly cattle shed And why are angels always girls With halos on their heads?
If all of these superfl’ous things Were to be stripped away There would be much more time to get The meaning of the day
